'The Office' Hits BAFTA Triple At the Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais was so stunned by the two wins for "The Office" that he couldn't even make a second speech. Presumably the show's star and creator is more accustomed to winning at the British Academy Television Awards. In the BAFTA's Sunday night ceremony, Gervais and his popular comedy won the acting and situation comedy trophies for the third consecutive year. The awards came for "The Office Christmas Special," with Gervais topping co-star Marvin Freeman in the performance category. The special was very nearly ineligible after the BBC failed to submit it for consideration. The British Academy agreed to accept the late entry. Jonathan Ross, who hosted the event, also picked up two trophies. Ross won for best entertainment performance, while "Friday Night With Jonathan Ross" topped "Pop Idol" for best entertainment program (or, rather, "programme").Other winners included Julie Walters for a segment of the BBC's controversial "Canterbury Tales" series and recent British Film Academy winner Bill Nighy for the journalism thriller "State of Play.""Buried" was named outstanding drama series.
